Elves. One of the many beloved characters that appear during the Christmas season. Elves are, in contemporary times, known as Santa’s little helpers. If you were to dig a little deeper you might find that elves have a deeper history than just supporting Santa Claus in delivering toys to the good children of the world. Here are some events listed below that celebrate the underappreciated role of elves.
Everyone knows that the holidays are not in full swing until elves start appearing on shelves. They are not only decorative but they help spread holiday cheer. If you would like to have your very own elf to brighten your holidays, you can attend the Elf on the Shelf Painting Class. The MonDak Heritage Center in Sidney, Montana is offering a workshop where you can paint and glaze a ceramic elf to take home. Head down to the center on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at 6:00 PM - the cost is $35 per person. All ages can take part in this class. Make it a family affair and bring home a gaggle of elves to put on the shelf!
While elves are known through folklore from various cultures, they often go by another name. For example, they are often referred to as “alfer" by the Danish, however, their appearance may be similar across many cultures. On Sunday, December 15, 2019, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM the MonDak Center will be hosting a Danish Heritage Christmas Celebration. This event will include: photos with Santa, art projects, entertainment, baked goods, a gift shop and elves of course!
